Representation

Image
Representation In our film opener, we focused mostly on high school experiences, especially around gender, youth, and emotional vulnerability. We wanted the footage to feel raw and real, instead of the polished look you usually see in teen dramas. The film shows young girls navigating a hostile social environment. Instead of focusing on the popular kids, we zoom in on the “outsiders,” the kids who are often overlooked. The two main characters show different ways of dealing with trauma—one through physical distress, the other through quiet endurance. While the “bully versus victim” dynamic is pretty common, our approach is less stereotypical because we focus on the emotional aftermath instead of the bullying itself. Most media shows victims as either revenge-seeking or unrealistically resilient, but we wanted something more real. We also challenge typical teen media in two ways. First, most teen shows use high definition and bright colors, which makes school seem glamoriz...

Final Story Board

Image
Final Story Board The changes we chose to make throughout our storyboard was the setting and places we wanted to film. The end outcome was a bit different than what we picked in the first time around. We selected a similar setting from the one we chose before due to the fact it was a bit crowded and noisy and wouldn't have worked out in the way we thought. As for the script around the time we started we thought of not doing a script and having a silent film but then ran into a bit of trouble from how weird it was to not have anyone say anything so we decided on keeping a bit of dialogue just to give it that mood and tone.Other than those few changes nothing else changed, we kept the same meaning behind it all and chose an quiet ending.   For our Final Story Board, the start of the film opener was Tatianna was seen talking to someone but as soon as she had seen Relysia she was seen to be fuming, then she starts bullying her and during this time we see them at an over-the shoulder sh...

The title we had agreed on before was "The Bathroom" but it didn't suit well with he storyline and the true meaning behind the film opener. At the end "The Significance" fit all the descriptions we needed for it to tru...

Editing 2

Image
EDITING 2 The title we decided on as a group is "The Significance" It basically symbolizes how one thing leads to another exactly and its a cause and effect to the next. The fonts were only one which is Futura Bold its in big lettering to show the big idea of the whole film opener. There were a few video effects used like the music and the fading of the sounds as well as the shifting into scenes, they all played a big part in creating that sense of sadness throughout the film opener. The transitions were the cuts of the different camera angles shot in different parts of the same area. The audio was on an entire different platform than our camera, we decided to use voice memos on our phones so the audio was easier to pick up and understand. The problems we kept having were the times we needed to film, either one person wasn't there that day, or a person had injuries so they couldn't perform to the highest of their abilities, to people having to leave early. Aside from...

Editing 1

Image
Editing 1 For the titles and fonts, we chose a simple, clean font that looked serious and emotional instead of dramatic, and we kept the colors neutral to match the tone. For video effects, we adjusted the brightness and contrast to make certain scenes slightly darker and more realistic, and we did light color correction to keep everything consistent. We mainly used slow fade and cross dissolve transitions so the scenes flowed smoothly. For audio we added soft background music lowered background noise. Some problems we encountered were uneven lighting, awkward cuts, and distracting background noise, but we fixed them by trimming clips more carefully, recording scenes again, and adjusting camera levels. It's taking a bit of time editing everyone helped brainstorm ideas while I mainly handled cutting clips and adding effects. We also did a small amount of additional filming to improve one scene that didn’t look natural the first time.
